I am currently a senior at Wayne State University, expecting to graduate in August of 2021 with my bachelor’s degree in communication studies accompanied by a minor in business administration. I take a great amount of pride in my schoolwork and I have been granted the Jane Fitzgibbon Endowed Student Award in the Area of Communication. This is a competitive Wayne State University scholarship, awarded to one outstanding student per year.
My most recent professional role was acting as the Marketing and Communications Intern at Michigan Women Forward. This position allowed me to exercise skills like creating communication strategies, graphic design and visual content creation, and leading interdepartmental teams for marketing campaigns.
I have also worked as a bartender for seven years. This job has given me the opportunity to utilize my communication skills in a variety of different circumstances while also creating strong and long-lasting relationships with my coworkers and customers. I have treated this position in a similar way to managing my own business. I know that the more I put into the job, the more I can learn and gain in return.
In my free time I enjoy working on a variety of projects, including creating an online presence for a local beekeeper and managing a website I created for a local landscaping company. Working on these projects has allowed me to exercise the many skills I have acquired during my time at Wayne State University including marketing and web design. I also enjoy traveling with a goal of learning more about different environments and cultures. This helps me to move closer to my personal goals of learning to be proficient in Spanish and absorbing as much as I can about foreign communication processes.
